Staff Nurse – Outpatient Department (Band 5)

About the role

An exciting opportunity for a motivated, caring and compassionate registered nurse to join the Outpatient team at Worthing Hospital. The Band 5 role offers a fixed‑term (12‑month) contract and the chance to develop a wide range of clinical skills across medical and surgical specialties.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality, evidence‑based clinical care to out‑patients in line with Trust values and professional standards.
• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to protect and promote patient health and wellbeing.
• Follow Trust policies, protocols and local guidelines in all activities.
• Act as a role model, communicating respectfully with patients, carers and colleagues.
• Accept delegated responsibilities within competence and support the senior nurse in charge.
• Maintain and develop personal practice through continuous learning.
• Supervise and mentor students and junior staff, providing teaching and role‑modelling.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (NMC‑registered) with a caring and compassionate approach.
• Motivated to develop clinical skills across a range of medical and surgical specialties.
• Willingness to work at Worthing Hospital on a full‑time basis, including occasional evenings and weekends.
• Ability to work under the guidance of band 7 and band 6 managers.
• Previous outpatient experience is not essential.
