Staff Nurse – Outpatients

About the role

The Outpatient Department at Borders General Hospital is seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse to support the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centred care across 26 specialties. This internal vacancy is open to current NHS Scotland staff and offers the chance to work in a dynamic outpatient environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective nursing care in line with the NMC Code.
• Assess and discharge patients within the outpatient setting.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date clinical documentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient pathways.
• Support the development of new outpatient services and business initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a current NMC registration.
• Band 5 qualification and experience in an outpatient or similar clinical setting.
• Flexible, resourceful and able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional patient experiences.
