Store Manager

About the role

As the Retail Store Manager you will be the heartbeat of the shop, leading a small friendly team, shaping the customer experience and ensuring the store runs smoothly. This hands‑on, people‑focused role blends commercial acumen with a passion for DIY and home improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop a small retail team.
• Maintain optimal stock levels and strong supplier relationships.
• Ensure the store is visually appealing, welcoming and compliant with health & safety standards.
• Drive sales through effective merchandising and local promotions.
• Handle customer enquiries, bespoke orders and occasional challenges.
• Own health & safety and regulatory compliance.
• Report on KPIs and contribute to future store strategy.

Required profile

• Proven retail management experience, preferably in DIY/hardware.
• Confident leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Strong commercial awareness and problem‑solving mindset.
• Excellent communication and customer service instincts.
• Genuine interest in DIY, home improvement or tools.

Required skills

• Experience with EPOS systems.
• Basic financial reporting capability.
