Subcontract Buyer – Procurement Specialist

About the role

Murphy is seeking an experienced Subcontract Buyer to join the procurement team supporting the TRUe regional operating unit. You will help develop and manage the supply chain for transportation infrastructure projects across Shipley and Leeds, ensuring value‑for‑money procurement of subcontracts, materials and services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive contract arrangements and package details that protect the business.
• Monitor supply‑chain performance, workload and financial status.
• Maintain supplier evaluation forms and risk assessments.
• Deliver a consistent procurement approach from work‑winning through pre‑construction.
• Focus on overall best value rather than lowest price.
• Track market pricing trends, risks and opportunities.
• Identify and assess new supply‑chain members to meet project demand.
• Develop relationships with strategic suppliers and internal project teams.
• Represent Murphy at regional supply‑chain events.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience in subcontract buying within construction.
• Good understanding of construction work practices from pre‑construction to build phase.
• Knowledge of strategic procurement and sustainability practices.
• Familiarity with products and suppliers relevant to regional transportation projects.
