Supply SEN Teaching Assistant – Complex Needs (Stockport)

About the role

We are seeking compassionate, reliable and adaptable supply teaching assistants to support pupils with complex special educational needs in schools across the Stockport area. The role involves working in both classroom and one‑to‑one settings to help deliver personalised learning plans.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with complex SEN needs, including Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.
• Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning plans and interventions.
• Provide support with communication, sensory needs and personal care where required.
• Promote independence and engagement through structured routines and positive reinforcement.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists and external professionals.
• Maintain safeguarding standards and confidentiality at all times.

Required profile

• Experience working with children with complex SEN needs, preferably in a school or care setting.
• Knowledge of strategies for supporting pupils with Autism, SLD or PMLD.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to challenging situations.
• Positive, patient and empathetic approach to supporting vulnerable learners.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.

Required skills

• Understanding of SEN strategies and interventions.
