Surfacing Supervisor

About the role

Breedon Group plc is seeking an experienced Surfacing Supervisor to lead its West Coast surfacing team. In this hands‑on position you will oversee road surfacing and highway maintenance projects, ensuring safety, quality and timely delivery while working outdoors across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate surfacing operations to meet safety, schedule and specification targets.
• Lead, motivate and develop operatives, fostering high workmanship standards.
• Plan daily activities, allocating labour, plant, materials and equipment efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and company procedures at all times.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors and internal teams to maintain clear communication.
• Monitor quality, conduct site inspections and risk assessments, and enforce safe systems of work.
• Perform routine checks on plant, equipment and PPE, reporting defects or maintenance needs.
• Complete site documentation, including daily records, safety reports and project updates.
• Report safety concerns, incidents, defects or near‑misses promptly.
• Work flexibly across different sites and shifts, including night work when required.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising surfacing or highway maintenance operations.
• Strong leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Thorough understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements in construction.
• Valid CSCS card and full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to various sites.
