Surveyor – Damp, Mould & Disrepair Specialist

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position supports safe, compliant homes by focusing on damp, mould, disrepair and repair diagnostics. You will work directly with residents and contractors to ensure properties meet legal standards and are well‑maintained.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out property surveys and inspections to identify defects, risks and improvement opportunities.
• Diagnose causes of damp, mould and disrepair, manage cases and specify remedial works in line with legislation.
• Write specifications, oversee minor works projects and ensure timely, safe delivery of repairs.
• Provide technical advice to support compliance with building regulations, CDM, HHSRS and related housing legislation.
• Monitor contractor performance, review KPIs and approve out‑of‑scope works.
• Manage budgets, monitor spend using the NHF Schedule of Rates and authorise invoices.
• Handle complaints, support service recovery and manage cases through housing management systems.
• Communicate effectively with residents, internal teams and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a building, housing or repairs surveyor.
• Full clean UK driving licence and access to a car.
• Strong technical judgement and clear communication skills.
• Resident‑focused, practical approach to problem solving.

Required skills

• Knowledge of UK building regulations, CDM Regulations and HHSRS.
• Familiarity with the NHF Schedule of Rates.
• Ability to produce clear technical reports and specifications.
