Systems & Controls Accountant

About the role

Canonical is seeking a Systems & Controls Accountant to lead the design, automation, and governance of finance systems across the enterprise. The role will work closely with product, legal, FP&A, sales operations and engineering teams to ensure revenue accounting and contract treatment are accurate, auditable and highly automated.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex NetSuite configuration, workflow design, customization and integration with Salesforce and other business systems.
• Implement best practices for data governance, security and compliance across all finance platforms.
• Develop, maintain and enhance reports, dashboards and KPIs that provide insight into business performance.
• Coordinate system maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting to ensure optimal reliability.
• Provide training and support to finance and cross‑functional teams on system usage and controls.
• Ensure proper application of revenue recognition guidance for public market scrutiny.

Required profile

• Professionally qualified accounting leader with deep experience in NetSuite.
• Proven ability to work with technical teams and software engineers.
• Strong presentation skills and confidence in setting goals and directing work.
• Personal interest in the software and technology industry, with optional data analytics or software engineering exposure.
