Teaching Assistant – 1:1 ADHD Support

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for a Key Stage 3 student with ADHD in a mixed secondary school in East Ham, East London. The role involves working closely with the student and teaching staff throughout the school day to ensure the pupil stays engaged, focused and able to access learning effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a KS3 student with ADHD throughout the school day.
• Help the student maintain focus, engagement and participation during lessons.
• Implement strategies to support attention, organisation, time‑management and emotional regulation.
• Assist with transitions between lessons and different school environments.
• Promote positive behaviour and support the student in meeting individual targets.
• Build a strong, professional relationship with the student based on trust and encouragement.
• Monitor and report on the student's progress, wellbeing and engagement.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children or young people with ADHD, SEMH needs or other SEND requirements.
• Strong understanding of ADHD and effective strategies for attention and emotional regulation.
• Behaviour management, communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience working within a secondary school setting (desirable).
• Relevant qualifications in Education, Psychology, Youth Work, SEND or related field (advantageous but not essential).
