Teaching Assistant – Year 2 Maths, English & Phonics (Sept 2026)

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school in Haringey for the Year 2 class. Starting in September 2026, you will deliver focused interventions in maths, English and phonics to support pupils who need extra help and prepare them for the end of KS1.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver targeted maths interventions for Year 2 pupils.
• Lead small‑group English intervention sessions.
• Provide phonics support to improve reading foundations.
• Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom activities.
• Monitor pupil progress and give feedback to teaching staff.
• Encourage confidence, independence and positive behaviour.

Required profile

• Passionate about supporting young learners in a primary setting.
• Willingness to work full‑time, Monday to Friday.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or ability to obtain one.
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant, recent graduate or psychology graduate seeking classroom experience.

Required skills

• Ability to deliver clear, age‑appropriate interventions in maths, English and phonics.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
