Teaching Assistant – Year 5 (Full‑time, Fixed‑term)

About the role

Reed Education is recruiting a full‑time General Teaching Assistant for a Year 5 class in a welcoming primary school in Cheltenham. The role starts in September 2026 and runs until Christmas 2026, providing an excellent opportunity for an experienced assistant or someone looking to develop their career in education.

Key responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons.
• Work with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning.
• Assist with classroom preparation and resource organisation.
• Encourage pupil participation, confidence and independence.
• Support positive behaviour and classroom routines.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with primary‑aged children.
• Confidence supporting Key Stage 2 pupils.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, enthusiastic and adaptable.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
