About the role
The French Section of the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics at the University of Cambridge is appointing a Teaching Associate in Francophone Postcolonial Studies on a fixed‑term contract (1 September 2026 – 31 May 2028). The role involves teaching, examining and supporting both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including language instruction, and contributing to the Section’s administrative activities.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver lectures, seminars and language classes on Francophone postcolonial literature and cinema.
- Design, set and mark examinations and coursework for relevant modules.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and projects.
- Participate in curriculum development and departmental meetings.
- Support outreach and public‑engagement activities within French Studies.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience teaching Francophone postcolonial literature and cinema at higher‑education level.
- Strong publication record in the field.
- Relevant doctoral or master’s degree in French Studies, Postcolonial Studies or a closely related discipline.
- Active, collegial engagement in teaching, research and outreach.
