Team Manager – Functional Specialists

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic Team Manager to lead a group of up to 15 Functional Specialists. The role is home‑based with occasional travel across the UK and NI to support assessment centres, training events and business meetings.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve contracted service levels and key performance indicators while minimizing financial penalties and complaints.
• Manage day‑to‑day operations, set objectives, plan workloads and conduct internal checks for process adherence.
• Lead recruitment, performance management, coaching, absences and disciplinary actions for the team.
• Motivate staff, develop a strong team ethos and reduce attrition.
• Use management information to monitor quality, KPIs and trends, and implement remedial actions.
• Collaborate with Quality Learning Support, Regional Clinical and Clinical Governance teams to ensure high standards of claimant care.
• Participate in escalation processes, identify operational risks and act as a decision‑maker.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing teams of 15+ members.
• Extensive background in performance management and coaching.
• Strong planning, organisational and leadership abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet detailed operational targets.
• Track record of building and developing high‑performing teams.
• Excellent presentation skills for stakeholders and direct reports.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
