Team Manager – Mental Health Support (South Cumbria)

About the role

The South Cumbria Integrated Care Board has commissioned Barnardo's to expand its Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) across the region. We are looking for an experienced children and young people’s mental health professional to lead one of the locality teams, ensuring high‑quality support for children, families and schools.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and expansion of the MHST service, including recruitment, training and supervision of a multidisciplinary team.
• Manage day‑to‑day operations, oversee the waiting list and ensure smooth flow of young people through the service.
• Design, deliver and evaluate training packages for school staff, parents and young people.
• Create and disseminate mental health and wellbeing resources.
• Provide line management for Education Mental Health Practitioners and High‑Intensity CBT therapists.
• Coordinate with education settings, partners and clinical leads to meet service objectives.

Required profile

• Qualified professional with experience in children’s and young people’s mental health.
• Proven leadership and line‑management capabilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with service managers, clinical leads and external partners.
• Strong organisational skills to manage waiting lists and service delivery.
