Technical Infrastructure Architect

About the role

We are seeking a visionary Technical Infrastructure Architect to lead the design and assurance of technical infrastructure for a public‑sector transformation programme. The role will ensure Day‑1 safety and legal compliance, enabling staff to securely access core systems, applications and data as new authorities take over.

Key responsibilities

• Lead assessment of legacy infrastructure across multiple councils and define resilient transition and convergence options for networks, identity, Microsoft 365, telephony and cybersecurity controls.
• Establish a current‑state baseline of core infrastructure, dependencies and risks to inform decision‑making.
• Create technical design standards and decision records to guarantee consistent implementation.
• Manage technical risks, dependencies and service‑continuity requirements.
• Collaborate with SMEs, delivery partners and cross‑functional teams to review tools, platforms and infrastructure constraints.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a technical architect in large‑scale, multi‑organisation environments.
• Deep knowledge of networking, identity and access management, Microsoft 365 tenancy, telephony systems and cybersecurity controls.
• Strong understanding of modern technology practices, including hosting, platforms and open‑source solutions.
• Familiarity with agile and DevOps practices, continuous deployment, automated testing and risk management.
• Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder‑management abilities, with commercial awareness of technology decisions.
