Technical Lead Epitaxy

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Technical Lead for Epitaxy to drive development, optimisation and production support of epitaxial growth processes for our MicroLED technology. Reporting to R&D, you will lead MOCVD process development and work closely with device, integration and manufacturing teams to enable high‑performance devices and scalable manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise III‑AsP epitaxial growth processes using MOCVD for advanced device structures, ensuring high crystal quality and low defect density.
• Design, plan and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) to systematically optimise growth parameters and define robust process windows.
• Analyse characterisation data, identify process drivers, and translate device requirements into epitaxial structures.
• Provide hands‑on support for reactor operation, calibration, troubleshooting and optimisation.
• Lead technical guidance for the epitaxy team, mentor junior engineers and document best‑practice procedures.
• Research industry trends in microLED, AR/VR, visual‑light communication and contribute to technology roadmap development.

Required profile

• Proven experience with AsP epitaxy for photonics (LEDs, uLEDs, edge‑emitting lasers, VCSELs), preferably on GaAs in the visible range.
• Experience scaling R&D processes into high‑volume manufacturing.
• Hands‑on experimental mindset with strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks and collaborate across device, integration and manufacturing teams.
