Technical Sales Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to drive growth for our engineering services centre in Bishop's Stortford. You will combine technical expertise with commercial acumen to develop new business, manage client relationships and oversee projects from quotation through delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and nurture new and existing client relationships, promoting installations, PPM contracts and service work.
• Conduct site visits, produce accurate quotes and maintain a robust sales pipeline.
• Respond to technical enquiries, create tailored designs and specifications, and balance technical, commercial and operational considerations.
• Lead projects from enquiry to completion, coordinating planning, procurement and resources while ensuring safety, quality and customer satisfaction.
• Oversee engineering teams, subcontractors and internal support functions, tracking profitability and performance.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and environmental policies, assisting with RAMS documentation.

Required profile

• Strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, refrigeration or air‑conditioning disciplines.
• Commercially aware with proven business development experience in an engineering environment.
• Experience in a contracting role within building services or similar sectors.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, self‑motivated and well‑organised.
• Willingness to travel across the South East region.
