Technical Sales Manager

About the role

We are seeking a commercially driven Technical Sales Manager to join our established engineering business in Portsmouth. You will act as the bridge between customers and our in‑house engineering teams, leading high‑value tooling projects for the automotive and aerospace sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Grow and manage existing customer accounts while identifying new business opportunities.
• Respond to RFQs, convert enquiries into profitable sales and develop relationships with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
• Lead technical discussions around mould tooling, jigs and fixtures.
• Manage costing, estimating and quotation activities.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver accurate, competitive proposals and support Design for Manufacture reviews.
• Maintain a strong sales pipeline using CRM systems.
• Represent the business at customer meetings, site visits and industry events.

Required profile

• Strong technical knowledge of injection mould tooling, CNC machining and toolroom processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and CAD data.
• Proven experience in technical sales or business development within engineering/manufacturing.
• Commercially astute with a track record of winning new business.
• Confident communicator able to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience in automotive, aerospace or precision engineering is highly desirable.
