Technical Stores Person

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Stores Person to join our Leeds Maintenance Facility. Reporting to the Stores Manager, you will ensure the smooth flow of materials needed for locomotive maintenance, overhaul and repair, working hands‑on in a busy depot environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage goods‑in processes, checking deliveries for accuracy and quality.
• Store materials safely and accurately within the warehouse.
• Raise purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
• Prepare and dispatch materials to overhaul suppliers.
• Load and unload delivery vehicles using a Counter Balance FLT.
• Issue materials to production teams and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Carry out regular stock counts and expedite supplier orders.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure compliance with safety and quality procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Stores Person or similar role.
• Organised, proactive and able to work in a fast‑paced engineering environment.
• Good communication skills to liaise with the Stores Manager and production teams.

Required skills

• Operation of a Counter Balance Forklift Truck (FLT).
