Telephone Booking Clerk

About the role

The Telephone Booking Clerk joins a dynamic Booking Centre team within the NHS, helping to maximise outpatient clinic capacity and supporting the Outpatient Restart Programme. You will receive full in‑house training and ongoing guidance from a dedicated Team Leader.

Key responsibilities

• Answer telephone enquiries and schedule patient appointments for outpatient clinics.
• Ensure clinics are fully booked in line with service targets.
• Enter and update patient information accurately in the booking system.
• Coordinate with clinical staff to confirm availability and manage changes.
• Provide administrative support for the Outpatient Restart Programme, including data entry and record keeping.

Required profile

• Clear and courteous communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Willingness to learn NHS procedures and booking software.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

Required skills

• Telephone handling and customer service.
• Basic computer literacy and data entry.
• Familiarity with booking or scheduling software (training provided).
