Temporary Accounts Assistant – Finance Team

About the role

This temporary position supports a well‑established not‑for‑profit organisation in Portsmouth. You will sit at the heart of local service payment processing, ensuring provider invoices are accurate, reconciled and delivered on time.

Key responsibilities

• Validate payment schedules and electronically received invoices from care providers via the provider portal.
• Review and investigate variances between planned care and actual delivery, working closely with social care staff and providers.
• Finalise reconciliations accurately and within contractual timelines.
• Maintain clear, up‑to‑date financial records to support purchase order and invoice processing standards.
• Monitor monthly activity and expenditure trends to help the finance team understand patterns and outputs.

Required profile

• Experience or strong familiarity with purchase order and supplier invoicing processes.
• Confident numeracy and meticulous approach to checking information.
• Strong communication skills for explaining differences and responding to queries.
• Comfortable using web‑based systems and Microsoft Office tools.
• Proactive mindset with willingness to learn in a fast‑paced finance environment.
