Theatre Assistant – Band 3 (Day Surgery)

About the role

The Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is seeking a motivated Band 3 Theatre Assistant to join the Nevill Hall Day Surgery Unit. This high‑turnover unit runs five theatres and provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in a surgical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the registered nurse and surgical team with preparation and turnover of operating theatres.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to health‑board policies.
• Support other sites within the health board when required, demonstrating flexibility.
• Ensure theatre equipment and supplies are ready and correctly stocked.
• Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic and reliable with a commitment to patient safety.
• Ability to work under supervision and follow delegated tasks.
• Willingness to adapt to varying shift patterns and support other locations as needed.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of theatre equipment handling.
• Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection standards.
