Trade Finance Lawyer – In‑House Legal Team (London)

About the role

An international financial institution is looking for an experienced Trade Finance Lawyer to join its in‑house legal team in London. You will support the global Trade & Working Capital business, advising on complex financing transactions, strategic initiatives and regulatory developments across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on trade finance and working capital products throughout the deal lifecycle.
• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of financing and trade‑related documentation.
• Support structured finance and corporate lending transactions, identifying and managing legal risks.
• Collaborate with credit, risk, compliance, tax, operations, product management and execution teams to deliver commercially focused guidance.
• Assist in developing and enhancing legal frameworks, policies, controls and documentation standards.
• Handle dispute management, investigations and other legal matters relevant to the business area.
• Deliver training and knowledge‑sharing sessions to raise legal and regulatory awareness.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
• Significant experience in a leading law firm or reputable financial institution.
• Proven background advising on banking and finance transactions.
• Strong knowledge of trade finance products and cross‑border issues.

Required skills

• Trade finance product expertise (guarantees, bonds, indemnity facilities, export‑credit‑agency‑backed financings, letters of credit, promissory note discounting).
• Banking and finance transaction advisory.
• Legal drafting and negotiation of financing documentation.
