Traffic Engineer

About the role

The Traffic Engineer will support the Principal Traffic Engineer in delivering engineering projects that meet contractual and statutory requirements. This full‑time position is based in London and involves both financial and technical responsibilities across a range of traffic‑related schemes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial estimates, monitor project expenditure and ensure compliance with budgetary limits.
• Assist in drafting contract conditions, specifications, bills of quantities and other tender documents.
• Take day‑to‑day responsibility for own work and that of junior staff or subcontractors, ensuring professional standards and deadlines are met.
• Conduct engineering tasks such as interpreting surveys, designing simple schemes, producing drawings and analysing local consultations.
• Supervise contracts on site, perform inspections, manage variations and prepare payment certificates.

Required profile

• Experience in civil or traffic engineering with a solid understanding of relevant legislation.
• Ability to produce accurate cost estimates and manage project budgets.
• Strong organisational skills to coordinate junior staff and subcontractors.
