Train Cleaner (Night Shift)

About the role

We are recruiting Train Cleaners for the Ardwick rail depot in Manchester on a night‑shift basis. The role involves physically demanding cleaning and maintenance of rolling stock to ensure trains meet high standards for service.

Key responsibilities

• Clean allocated rolling stock in line with production schedules and site procedures.
• Perform external cleaning of trains using manual methods and brushes.
• Clean driveline systems with brushes and compressed‑air equipment.
• Assist with fuelling, tanking and Controlled Emission Toilet (CET) operations when required.
• Carry out underframe cleaning according to depot guidelines.
• Work as part of a small team of 3‑4 colleagues.
• Report defects, damage or maintenance issues to supervisors.
• Follow all health‑and‑safety regulations and site procedures.

Required profile

• Ability to understand and communicate in basic English.
• Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks.
• Comfortable standing and working on feet for extended periods.
• Reliable, punctual and committed to high standards.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
