Trainee Claims Technician

About the role

Howden, a global insurance group, is recruiting a Trainee Claims Technician in Milton Keynes. You will join a supportive team and learn the fundamentals of insurance claims handling, providing administrative support, keeping accurate records and building the technical knowledge for a career in insurance.

Key responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day administration of insurance claims.
• Assist with setting up and maintaining claim records on company systems.
• Acknowledge new claims and help communicate updates to clients and insurers.
• Prepare and manage documentation supporting claims handling.
• Process payments, collections and other claims-related information accurately.
• Respond to queries and escalate more complex issues when needed.
• Work with colleagues across the business to deliver excellent client service.
• Learn and follow company, regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Contribute to team projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Previous office, administration, customer service or similar experience.
• An interest in starting a career in insurance claims.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive approach and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A-level standard education (or equivalent).
• Interest in pursuing insurance-related qualifications is desirable but not essential.

Required skills

• Confidence using Microsoft Office and other computer systems.
• Numeracy and literacy.
