Trainee Cyber Security Analyst – NHS England CSOC

About the role

The Security Trainee position supports the NHS England Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC) in coordinating, triaging and managing cyber security incidents across the national health and care system. This entry‑level role offers hands‑on experience in incident response within a public‑sector environment.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, log, triage and coordinate cyber security incidents in line with NHS England processes.
• Assist incident managers by tracking progress, updating records and ensuring timely escalation.
• Collaborate with technical analysts and operational teams to gather information and maintain situational awareness during live incidents.
• Provide clear updates to internal stakeholders and support communication during incident handling.
• Maintain accurate incident documentation, capture decisions and lessons learned.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives by suggesting enhancements to incident management procedures.
• Stay informed about emerging cyber threats and NHS‑specific security developments.
