Trainee Train Conductor - Tonbridge

About the role

Join the Southeastern team in Tonbridge as a Trainee Train Conductor. You will undergo a nationally‑recognised apprenticeship that takes you from classroom learning to hands‑on duties on our trains, preparing you for a career delivering safe and friendly rail travel.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome passengers, check and issue tickets, and ensure a comfortable journey.
• Communicate with the train driver and relay information about stops, delays or safety issues.
• Handle ticketing queries, cash payments and resolve passenger concerns promptly.
• Maintain a safe environment on board, following all safety procedures and protocols.
• Provide clear, timely information during service disruptions or delays.

Required profile

• Live within a 15‑mile radius of the Tonbridge depot.
• Strong passion for customer service and improving passenger experience.
• Confidence handling difficult situations independently and professionally.
• Ability to stay calm and resilient under pressure.
• Good communication skills and basic IT proficiency.
