Transactional Banking & Liabilities Lawyer (S3) – London

About the role

Santander Corporate & Commercial Banking (CCB) is seeking a Transactional Banking & Liabilities Lawyer to join its London legal team. The role supports the Transactional Banking and Liabilities business, providing legal advice on cash‑management, payments and account products while collaborating with product, risk, compliance and front‑office teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on transactional banking and liabilities products, including accounts, cash management and payment services.
• Draft and negotiate commercial contracts, client documentation and product terms and conditions.
• Support product development, change initiatives and digital platform evolution.
• Advise on UK and EU payments regulation and financial‑crime frameworks.
• Identify, assess and escalate legal and regulatory risks.
• Partner with stakeholders across product, risk, compliance, operations and technology.
• Deliver timely, pragmatic legal advice aligned with the firm’s risk appetite.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement, including the use of legal‑technology and AI tools.

Required profile

• Qualified legal professional with experience in banking and finance law.
• Familiarity with cash‑management, payments and account products.
• Ability to work closely with product, risk, compliance and technology teams.
• Strong understanding of UK and EU payments regulation and financial‑crime frameworks.
