Transport Coordinator

About the role

We are seeking a Transport Coordinator to join our Widnes site and support the efficient operation of collection services. You will ensure service level agreements are met while maintaining compliance with health, safety and transport regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the efficient running of the company’s collection services and meet SLA targets.
• Plan daily vehicle workloads and optimise driver utilisation.
• Develop effective route plans for deliveries and collections.
• Conduct daily face‑to‑face debriefs with the driver team.
• Handle customer, employee and colleague queries via phone and email.
• Monitor driver hours for regulatory compliance.
• Schedule fleet services, MOTs and ensure O‑license requirements are met.
• Maintain compliance with vehicle operation, health & safety and statutory obligations.
• Track vehicle defects using the PURGO system.
• Create and amend inbound and outbound weighbridge tickets.
• Undertake additional duties or projects as directed by management.

Required profile

• Good formal education.
• Previous experience in a busy transport office or department.
• Experience with multi‑drop planning and planning systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to balance conflicting demands.
• Strong knowledge of transport regulations.
• Ability to work under pressure in a changing environment.
• Good IT skills, including MS Word and Excel.
• Committed, reliable and flexible team player.

What we offer

• Salary £30,000‑£32,000 per year plus benefits.
• Full‑time permanent contract, 40 hours per week (Monday‑Friday, 8:00‑17:00).
