Transport Planner – Construction & Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking a Transport Planner to join our Portsmouth office, working on construction and infrastructure projects. You will be involved from initial planning through design and delivery, advising clients and managing complex transport schemes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver transport plans across residential, health, education, retail, energy and civil projects.
• Prepare fee proposals, tenders and appeal documentation such as Statements of Case.
• Attend public consultations, appeal meetings and liaise with stakeholders.
• Produce, review and approve technical reports, drawings and modelling outputs.
• Use transport modelling packages to calculate trip generation and distribution.
• Train and mentor junior team members and support project management activities.

Required profile

• Degree‑level qualification or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in transport planning, preferably within a consultancy.
• Proven experience preparing fee proposals, tenders and appeal documentation.
• Strong knowledge of national design guidance and local planning policies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
