Transport Planner – Dynamic Logistics Role

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join a leading manufacturing client in Ryhope. In this fast‑paced role you will manage the daily planning of a busy domestic fleet, ensuring timely deliveries and efficient loading operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily transport schedules for deliveries and collections.
• Liaise with internal departments to align finished‑goods preparation with loading timetables.
• Create purchase and sales orders using internal business systems.
• Arrange shipping and haulage with freight forwarding partners.
• Prepare accurate transport and shipping documentation within required timescales.
• Oversee loading and dispatch of customer orders.
• Resolve operational issues promptly while maintaining high customer service standards.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and HGV transport regulations.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues.

Required profile

• Minimum three years’ experience in transport planning or a similar logistics role.
• Strong knowledge of HGV transport regulations and compliance.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritise workload, work independently and meet deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Customer‑focused with strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Reliable, dependable and a collaborative team player.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Transport Management Systems (TMS).
• Competent use of Microsoft Office and other business software.
