Trust Doctor (ST3+) – General Medicine

About the role

The Trust Doctor (ST3+ level) will join the General Medicine team at Whipps Cross University Hospital for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. This is a teaching‑focused district general hospital offering a rich mix of clinical cases and strong support for research and further qualifications.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality inpatient care on the Birch and Blackthorn wards.
• Supervise and support ST1‑2 junior doctors in line with RCP Safe Medical Staffing Guidelines.
• Manage complex medical, frailty, dementia and delirium cases within a diverse patient population.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient safety initiatives.
• Engage with the Medical Education Centre for teaching and study leave arrangements.

Required profile

• Fully qualified medical doctor with ST3+ experience in General Medicine.
• Eligibility to work within the NHS and hold a valid GMC registration.
• Demonstrated ability to manage acute and chronic medical conditions, especially in older adults.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and MRCP preparation.
