Trust Grade Registrar – Palliative Medicine

About the role
The Trust Grade Registrar will join the Palliative Medicine team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, working across Churchill Hospital in Oxford and Katharine House Hospice in Banbury. The post provides specialist inpatient, hospital‑based consultative, and community palliative care services for adults with life‑limiting conditions.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver intensive symptom management and end‑of‑life care on specialist inpatient wards (Sobell House, Katharine House).
- Provide consultative advice to acute hospitals (John Radcliffe, Churchill, Nuffield Orthopaedic, Horton) as part of the Hospital Palliative Care Team.
- Support community palliative care, including rapid‑response hub shifts and advance care planning across Oxfordshire and South Northamptonshire.
- Participate in the on‑call rota alongside specialist registrars and specialty doctors.
- Contribute to the Living Well programme, lymphoedema, bereavement services, education, and research initiatives.
Required profile
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Completed specialist training in Palliative Medicine or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work flexibly across multiple sites and in community settings.
- Commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork and teaching.
Required skills
- Clinical expertise in palliative and end‑of‑life care.
- Proficiency in acute hospital and community care pathways.
- Effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
