Vehicle Maintenance Engineer – Gatwick Airport

About the role

ABM is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Engineer to join its fleet team at London Gatwick Airport. Working both airside and landside, you will ensure the airport’s fleet of PCV and HGV vehicles meets the highest safety and performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine safety inspections, MOT preparations and service work exceeding DVSA minimum standards.
• Diagnose and rectify defects identified during inspections and driver reports.
• Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns as directed by the Fleet/Engineering Manager.
• Complete job cards, safety inspection sheets and defect reports accurately before moving to the next task.
• Maintain a clean and tidy workshop environment.
• Adhere to all company Health & Safety policies and any reasonable work‑related requests, including travel.

Required profile

• Valid PCV/HGV licence (desirable).
• Previous experience in commercial vehicle maintenance.
• Relevant City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 qualification in mechanical commercial vehicles.
• Strong diagnostic ability and familiarity with Department of Transport (DVSA) standards.
• Excellent team working and communication skills.
