Veterinary Nurse – Phlebotomist (South West, Part‑time)

About the role
Pet Blood Bank UK is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to work as a phlebotomist across the South West. The role is part‑time, covering donation sessions on weekends and involves collecting lifesaving blood from canine donors.
Key responsibilities
- Perform whole‑blood collections from dogs under the supervision of a Veterinary Surgeon.
- Complete donor records accurately on paper and electronically.
- Explain the donation process to owners and ensure a positive experience.
- Monitor donors during and after collection, providing post‑donation care and communication.
- Supervise and assist Donor Assistants as required.
- Maintain relationships with host venues and coordinate with regional collection teams.
- Support training of new team members and keep training records up to date.
Required profile
- Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification.
- Willingness to travel across South West England and South Wales.
- Ability to work flexible weekend hours (minimum 12 sessions per year).
- Strong communication skills with donors and owners.
Required skills
- Phlebotomy – safe and efficient blood collection from dogs.
- Canine blood collection techniques.
- Veterinary nursing knowledge and record‑keeping.
