Veterinary Receptionist

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic advocate for animals to join our brand‑new veterinary hospital in Bolton. The 24/7 facility offers a varied caseload, working alongside highly skilled vets and nurses, and provides affordable first‑opinion services as well as referral surgeries.

Key responsibilities

• Welcoming clients and their pets, maintaining a compassionate and professional attitude.
• Answering telephone calls and client queries.
• Handling medication prepared by veterinary surgeons and handing it to clients.
• Maintaining clinical cleanliness in the reception, waiting area and consultation rooms.
• Dealing with stressed or upset clients and directing them to the appropriate team.
• Processing payments, registering new clients and addressing client concerns.
• Organising and restocking practice supplies as required.
• Complying with health and safety procedures and data protection legislation.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a medical or veterinary reception role.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Empathy and excellent communication, especially with clients in stressful situations.
• Ability to handle upset clients and provide supportive collaboration with clinical teams.

What we offer

• 35 hours per week on a 4‑on‑4‑off rota.
• Shift patterns covering early, late and overnight hours.
• Bank holiday work with additional pay.
• 5.6 weeks of annual leave including bank holidays.
