Vice President, Risk and Controls

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Vice President, Risk and Controls to lead the risk management program and internal control framework for its Real Time Payments International (RTP INT) business. This senior position sits in the first line of defence and works closely with regional, global and group risk teams to ensure operational resilience and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and oversee the risk management program and internal control framework for RTP International.
• Develop and execute the risk strategy, providing subject‑matter expertise across the business.
• Collaborate with regional and global teams, including Group Risk, on enterprise‑wide risk initiatives.
• Partner with the second line of defence to identify, assess and manage cyber, security, third‑party, legal, regulatory, operational, financial, reputational and strategic risks.
• Validate risk assessments, challenge assumptions and enforce compliance with policies and procedures.
• Mentor and lead a team of risk professionals while working closely with Business Operations and Engineering to monitor technology risks.

Required profile

• Extensive risk management experience in the payments or financial services industry.
• Proven ability to operate in a first‑line risk role and partner effectively with second‑line risk functions.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience managing cross‑functional teams.
• Deep understanding of enterprise risk frameworks and regulatory requirements.
