VP Legal Counsel – Data Privacy, Digital & Technology

About the role

PIMCO is seeking a Vice President Legal Counsel with deep expertise in data privacy, digital and technology regulation to join its EMEA Legal team. You will provide specialist guidance across the EMEA region, partnering with Legal, IT, Compliance, Risk and business stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance in an increasingly digital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on GDPR and EU/UK privacy requirements, including lawful processing, data subject rights, cross‑border transfers and breach reporting.
• Support responses to data subject access requests and align practices with internal privacy policies.
• Provide counsel on data, IT and technology outsourcing, negotiating cloud and vendor agreements with appropriate data protection and security terms.
• Offer legal guidance on AI frameworks, including implications of the EU AI Act, and support safe deployment of AI‑driven tools.
• Monitor emerging EU/UK regulations related to digital services, fintech, operational resilience and cybersecurity, and advise on implementation programmes.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in data privacy, digital and technology law within the EMEA region.
• Strong commercial judgment and ability to influence legal and operational strategy.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
