Waking Night Support Worker – Children’s Solo Residential Home

About the role
This full‑time position provides a safe, nurturing environment for a child or young person living in a solo residential home during overnight hours. You will work 12‑hour waking night shifts, ensuring the young person’s safety, wellbeing and comfort throughout the night.
Key responsibilities
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of the child at all times, responding to any safeguarding concerns or emergencies.
- Conduct regular welfare checks, support healthy sleep routines and provide emotional reassurance when needed.
- Administer medication where trained and authorised, maintaining accurate records.
- Maintain detailed handover reports and document incidents, health and safety checks, and room inspections.
- Keep the home clean, safe and welcoming throughout the night.
Required profile
- Ability to work 12‑hour waking night shifts on a rotating roster, including weekends and bank holidays.
- Strong vigilance and professionalism when supporting children who may have experienced adversity.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures, risk assessments and care plans.
- Excellent communication skills for handovers and reporting to day staff and management.

- Medication administration (where trained and authorised)
