About the role
Join a dynamic Key Stage 1 team in a Wirral primary school as a Year 1 Teaching Assistant. You will support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and help pupils transition smoothly from Reception to Key Stage 1.
Key responsibilities
- Lead small‑group intervention sessions focusing on early reading, phonics (e.g., Read Write Inc, Letters and Sounds) and core maths.
- Assist the teacher with classroom preparation, marking support and resource management.
- Guide pupils through the shift from play‑based EYFS learning to the structured Key Stage 1 curriculum.
- Promote positive behaviour and supervise pupils during playground breaks.
Required profile
- Relevant experience as a school TA in Key Stage 1 or EYFS, or a completed Level 2/3 qualification in education support.
- Strong knowledge of early primary curriculum expectations, especially phonics and literacy.
- Proactive, energetic attitude with clear communication skills.
Required skills
- Familiarity with early phonics programmes such as Read Write Inc and Letters and Sounds.

- Hourly rate of £14.25 paid weekly via PAYE.
