Youth Development Worker (Temporary) – Penzance

About the role

We are seeking two enthusiastic Youth Development Workers to join a supported accommodation service for young people aged 16‑25 in Penzance. This temporary role (until September 2026) offers the chance to empower homeless youth, helping them build confidence, life skills and pathways to independent living.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one support and key‑worker sessions, assisting with housing, finances, wellbeing, education and employment.
• Create, review and update personalised support and action plans.
• Complete risk assessments and manage safeguarding concerns.
• Support tenancy sustainment and address housing‑related needs.
• Assist with benefits applications and financial management.
• Facilitate access to education, training and employment opportunities.
• Collaborate with partner agencies to secure appropriate support.
• Prepare young people for successful move‑on to independent accommodation.

Required profile

• Experience working with or supporting young people.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment and support planning.
• Understanding of mental health, wellbeing and challenges faced by vulnerable youth.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Proactive, resilient and person‑centred approach.
