Accountant – Finance (Birmingham, UK)

About the role

The Accountant (UK) will support the Head Office finance function in Birmingham, delivering accurate financial reporting, accounting, and compliance with UK GAAP and FRS 102. The role works closely with external accountants and the South Africa office to ensure timely month‑end close, group reporting and high‑quality analysis for business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements in line with UK GAAP and FRS 102 and support month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Record non‑cash transactions in Sage Intacct, including depreciation, accruals, provisions, pre‑payments and deferred tax adjustments.
• Perform reconciliations for bank, balance‑sheet, intercompany and major vendor accounts, investigating discrepancies.
• Maintain fixed‑asset registers and ensure compliance with accrual accounting principles and internal controls.
• Prepare group consolidation reports, manage intercompany eliminations and update entity structures in the accounting system.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, periodic forecasts and variance analysis, providing insights for management.
• Support internal and external audit processes and liaise with external accountants and auditors.
• Contribute to system enhancements, process improvements and automation initiatives within Sage Intacct.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
