Accountant – Hybrid/Flexible (Newquay)

About the role

We are partnering with a reputable accountancy practice in Cornwall to recruit an Accountant. The position offers hybrid or flexible working arrangements, allowing you to balance office presence with remote work while supporting a diverse client portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a varied client portfolio, driving departmental performance.
• Review and quality‑check work produced by team members to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Mentor and develop junior staff through coaching and continuous feedback.
• Prepare, review, and finalise financial statements and tax returns to professional standards.
• Oversee bookkeeping processes and timely VAT return submissions.
• Provide proactive advice to clients and colleagues across all service areas.
• Identify and implement workflow improvements to enhance efficiency.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent QBE) or working towards qualification.
• Proven experience within an accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounts and tax.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Client‑focused and proactive approach.
