AI Research Internship (6 months)

About the role

SAIC Cambridge offers a 6‑month AI Research Internship for PhD candidates to work in a world‑class, cross‑disciplinary research centre. Interns will join one of three labs, collaborate with senior researchers and engineers, and aim to produce publications, patents, and open‑source code.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct cutting‑edge research on topics such as vision‑language models, foundation model architectures, and world models for planning.
• Publish results in top conferences and journals (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, ACL).
• Develop high‑quality, reproducible code with thorough documentation.
• Collaborate with mentors to shape research directions and impact.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, parallel and distributed computing, and optimization.
• At least one first‑author paper in a top AI conference or journal.

Required skills

• Python programming
• PyTorch framework
• Parallel and distributed computing
• GPU‑accelerated machine‑learning implementation
• Experience with foundation models, visual LLMs or diffusion models
• Software engineering best practices
