Android Developer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Android Developer to build and enhance next‑generation mobile applications for a leading client. The position is based in Bristol and operates on a hybrid model, requiring three days on‑site each week.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑quality Android applications using Kotlin and Java.
• Implement UI components following Google Material Design and Android interface guidelines.
• Utilise Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, and Jetpack Compose to deliver modern features.
• Manage offline storage, multithreading, and performance optimisation.
• Apply SOLID principles and architectural patterns such as MVVM/MVI with Android Architecture Components.
• Work within modularised codebases and ensure robust UI testing.
• Collaborate using Git version control and stay current with the Android open‑source ecosystem.

Required profile

• 10+ years of professional Android development experience.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin and Java.
• Deep understanding of the Android SDK, UI design principles, patterns and best practices.
• Experience with offline storage, multithreading and performance optimisation.
• Solid knowledge of the Android open‑source ecosystem and commonly used libraries.
• Proficiency in Google Material Design, Android interface guidelines and Git.
• Practical application of SOLID principles.
• Hands‑on experience with MVVM/MVI architecture, Android Architecture Components, Jetpack libraries and Jetpack Compose.
