Apprentice GSE Technician

About the role

Join our engineering team as an Apprentice GSE Technician and gain hands‑on experience in a busy workshop environment. Working alongside qualified technicians, you will develop practical skills in vehicle and ground support equipment maintenance while completing an accredited apprenticeship programme.

Key responsibilities

• Assist qualified GSE Technicians with servicing, maintenance and repair activities under direct supervision.
• Develop proficiency in the use of machine tools and workshop equipment.
• Operate machinery safely after completing required safety instruction.
• Carry out tasks assigned by the Workshop Supervisor or nominated GSE Technician.
• Request parts using SAP systems and maintain a clean, organised work bay.
• Ensure special tools and equipment are maintained correctly and report defects.
• Complete electronic job cards, inspections and workshop administration paperwork accurately.
• Record productive and non‑productive time for authorisation.
• Support periodic servicing of vehicles and machinery under supervision.
• Participate in on‑the‑job training, classroom learning and e‑learning activities.

Required profile

• Keen interest in motor mechanics and engineering.
• Basic understanding of MS Outlook and digital systems.
• Ability to use iPads or tablets to complete work orders.
• Good literacy, numeracy and analytical skills.
• Understanding of health and safety practices in a workshop.
• Positive team player, proactive, flexible and self‑motivated.
• Minimum Grade 4/C in Maths, English and ICT at GCSE level.
