Assistant Financial Accountant – Hybrid – Manchester

About the role

We are seeking an ambitious Assistant Financial Accountant to join a global professional services organisation in Manchester. This hybrid role offers a chance to develop technical accounting skills while supporting a portfolio of European and Middle Eastern entities.

Key responsibilities

• Support month‑end close, including journal preparation and posting
• Own and reconcile balance‑sheet accounts, investigating discrepancies
• Prepare fee reconciliations and manage intercompany invoicing and settlements
• Assist with statutory accounts preparation and year‑end audit processes
• Produce monthly reporting packs for external accountants and ensure local GAAP compliance
• Support VAT returns and other regulatory submissions
• Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Billing, Tax and Treasury teams
• Contribute to financial statements, process improvements and ad‑hoc finance projects

Required profile

• Part‑qualified ACCA or CIMA student actively studying
• Minimum 3 years UK accounting experience in a finance or accounting role
• Experience supporting month‑end processes and balance‑sheet reconciliations
• Exposure to statutory accounts, audits or financial reporting
• Right to work permanently in the UK (no sponsorship)

Required skills

• Strong Excel proficiency
• Experience using ERP systems
• VAT knowledge and experience preparing submissions
