Assistant General Manager – Hospitality

About the role

Searcys is seeking a dynamic Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager at the National Portrait Gallery venue. You will lead front‑of‑house operations, ensure exceptional guest experiences, and help develop a high‑performing team in a fast‑paced, high‑profile setting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and inspire front‑of‑house staff to deliver attentive, polished service.
• Ensure smooth daily operations, including service flow, reservations, and guest satisfaction.
• Support hiring, training, and ongoing development of team members.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with inventory control, cost management, and budgeting.
• Monitor and address guest feedback promptly and professionally.
• Uphold brand values and foster a positive team environment.
• Act as Manager on Duty, making high‑level decisions in the GM’s absence.

Required profile

• 3+ years of leadership experience in an upscale or fine‑dining environment.
• Deep understanding of hospitality standards, service etiquette, and guest relations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational abilities.
• Proven track record of managing, mentoring, and motivating high‑performing teams.
• Professional appearance and calm demeanor under pressure.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Required skills

• Experience with POS systems.
• Familiarity with reservation platforms.
