About the role
This senior leadership position is based in a specialist SEND school, focusing on pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties and Autism Spectrum Condition. The Assistant Headteacher will shape and deliver a pre‑formal curriculum that meets the complex needs of each learner.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the strategic development and implementation of the pre‑formal curriculum.
- Ensure outstanding provision for pupils with SLD and ASC.
- Support and develop teachers, teaching assistants and middle leaders.
- Drive high standards of teaching, learning and assessment across the pathway.
- Monitor pupil progress and guarantee personalised learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with therapists, families and external agencies.
- Contribute to whole‑school leadership and improvement initiatives.
- Promote a culture of inclusion, innovation and excellence.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Significant experience in a SEND setting.
- Strong knowledge of pre‑formal learning, SLD and ASC provision.
- Proven leadership experience as an Assistant Headteacher, SENCO, Phase Leader or equivalent.
- Excellent communication, coaching and leadership skills.
- Commitment to achieving the best outcomes for pupils with complex needs.
